Seven people were arrested by Ayodhya police on Thursday, all accused of disturbing the city's peace and order by throwing obscene posters and objects at various mosques in Ayodhya.

The arrested defendants were identified as Mahesh Kumar Mishra, Pratyush Srivastava, Nitin Kumar, Deepak Kumar Gaur alias Gunjan, Brijesh Pandey, Shatrughan Prajapati and Vimal Pandey. They are all inhabitants of Ayodhya.

Chief Police Inspector (Ayodhya), Shailesh Kumar Pandey, said the incident was committed by 11 people, seven of whom were arrested and four others fled.

"A total of eight persons on four motorcycles, led by Mahesh, threw objectionable posters and objects outside the mosques. The police recovered the objects, a mobile phone, and vehicles have been impounded. We have arrested seven people so far, four are absconding. We will arrest them soon. Action under the Gangsters Act and NSA will also be initiated against them," said the SSP.

During the investigation, Mahesh Kumar Mishra was found a chief collaborator and, along with other creators, a secret agreement was made at Brijesh Pandey's house to protest the recent Jahangirpuri incident in Delhi. They also learned that the accused had arrived in Beniganj Tiraha for the first time on Wednesday evening, where the plan for the Beniganj Masjid had not been met after seeing the Police Emergency Vehicle (PRV), so they moved to other mosques. They threw ugly posters and items at Ayodhya's Masjid Kashmiri Mohalla, Tatshah Mosque, Ghosiyana Ramnagar Masjid, Idgah Civil Line Mosque and Gulab Shah Dargah behind Dargah Prison.

Police also said that of the seven arrested, three suspects had a previous criminal history.

"The accused Mahesh has four cases registered against him in Kotwali Police station Ayodhya. Apart from this, the accused Nitin and Vimal also have cases registered against them," said a police officer.

Police said all seven suspects were registered under Section 295 (damaging or abusing places of worship with intent to offend religion of any kind) and 295-A (intentional and malicious acts). , which aims to evoke religious feelings of any class by offensive religion or religious beliefs) of the Indian Penal Code.
