Adipurush, the mythological drama directed by Om Raut and based on the Sanskrit epic Ramayana, made its theatrical debut on June 16. The film boasts a star-studded cast including Prabhas as Raghava (Lord Rama), Kriti Sanon as Janaki (Sita), and Saif Ali Khan as Lankesh (Ravana). However, it faced severe criticism for its subpar visual effects, lackluster character development, and mundane dialogue.

Surprisingly, Adipurush has now quietly made its way to the OTT platforms after approximately two months since its theatrical release. On Friday, August 11, the film was released on Prime Video in four South Indian languages: Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, and Kannada. Meanwhile, the Hindi version of the film can be streamed on Netflix. While the original production is in Telugu and Hindi, it has been dubbed into the other languages to reach a wider audience.

The production of Adipurush was no small feat, with a staggering budget of over Rs 600 crore, making it one of the most expensive films in Indian cinema history. Despite its impressive gross worldwide collection of Rs 390 crore (as reported by the entertainment tracking portal Sacnilk.com), the film has unfortunately been labeled a significant commercial disappointment. This marks the third major setback in Prabhas' career, following the underwhelming performances of "Saaho" and "Radhe Shyam." However, fans of the Baahubali star are eagerly anticipating his comeback in the upcoming film "Salaar," scheduled for release on September 28.

Adipurush boasts an ensemble cast, including Sunny Singh as Sesh (Lakshmana), Devdatta Nage as Bajrang (Lord Hanuman), Vatsal Sheth as Indrajit (Meghnada), Sonal Chauhan as Mandodari, Siddhant Karnick as Vibhishana, Krishna Kotian as Dashratha, and Trupti Todarmal as Sarama, among others. The film's production is backed by prominent names in the industry, such as Bhushan Kumar, Om Raut, Prasad Sutar, and Rajesh Nair, under the banners of T-Series and Retrophiles.
