For the ODI World Cup scheduled for October-November, Pakistan said on February 5 that they will not travel to India if the Indian cricket team does not travel to Pakistan for the Asian Cup scheduled for September.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) made these decisions during the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) board meeting on Saturday, Hindustan Times said an official present at the meeting.

Although the Indian BCCI officials do not see this as bringing about a change in their own opinion on the matter.

Now, the BCCI-PCB standoff will also begin when the ACC meets again in Dubai in March, a day before the International Cricket Council (ICC) quarterly board meeting.

On Saturday, the ACC, whose president is BCCI secretary Jay Shah, said there were "useful discussions" on the Asia Cup. However, there is no agreement on the plan to move the tournament to a neutral venue. "If this is how it is to be done, even the Pakistan and ODI World Cup matches in India should be moved to neutral venues. Both are international events," said a PCB official said.

Although the PCB officials see the possibility of moving the ODI World Cup to a neutral venue as unlikely, the BCCI remains hopeful. “It is not for the BCCI to decide but for our government to decide. The PCB should understand this," said a BCCI official.

"Even when Pakistan was given the right to host the Asia Cup, it was wise to have two cricket boards at all times, and any tour abroad would need to be approved by the government, which we do not have at this stage,” said another BCCI official.

On the issue of PCB's fear that Pakistan will not travel to India for the ODI World Cup, BCCI officials say that "this is a matter that the ICC will consider" as India is not more than a host nation.

Also, in defense of Pakistan like many cricketers, the PCB issued a statement on Sunday which read, “Sri Lanka recently visited Pakistan in 2017 and 2019, while Bangladesh visited Pakistan in 2020. . As part of the Future Tourism Program (FTP) 2023-2027, agreed and announced by all ICC members, Afghanistan, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka have agreed to travel to Pakistan. »

According to the details, India last visited Pakistan in 2008 for the 50th Asia Cup, losing the final to Sri Lanka in Karachi. Since the 2012–13 season, no cricket between the neighbours has taken place. Pakistan has travelled for the 2016 T20 World Cup, the latest ICC event sponsored by India.
