Ranbir Kapoor plays the larger-than-life main Hindi film hero with the action entertainer Shamshera. Ranbir, who is coming to the silver screen four years after delivering the blockbuster Sanju, will be pitted against Sanjay Dutt who plays the evil, ruthless and cold-blooded brute force of nature Shuddh Singh. Sanjay Dutt vs Ranbir Kapoor is the battle of the year on the big screen and Ranbir hopes that people love to hate on the big screen.

Ranbir said, “I know one of the main USPs of Shamshera is Sanjay Dutt vs Ranbir Kapoor and I hope people will like it on screen. The movie is a revenge action scene and I was so happy how amazing it was to see our fight on the big screen.

He added, "Looks like two forces will collide and there will be fireworks. Kudos to our director Karan Malhotra for thinking of us fighting together and taking the film to such a level." Our fight became a big story for the viewers. Sanjay Dutt gave us a villainous reminder of Shamshera and we knew our on-screen rivalry could be brutal and violent.

With Shamshera, Ranbir has done a front-footed action film for the first time and people have taken to his action avatar in style, making Shamshera one of the most anticipated Hindi films of the year! Ranbir said, "I want to grow as an actor and a star and Shamshera is definitely a positive step towards that. You want to do films for a wider audience."

He added, "You want to tell stories that different generations of audiences can relate to and have fun with. Shamshera is a step towards that, but like I said, the film hasn't released yet. I was very worried about how people would accept me in this part, but I am very excited to have such a part.

The story of Shamshera is set in the fictional town of Kaza, where a warrior tribe is imprisoned, enslaved and tortured by the cruel authoritarian general Shuddh Singh, played by Sanjay Dutt. This is the story of a man who became a slave, a slave who became a leader, and then a legend for his tribe. He fought tirelessly for the freedom and dignity of his tribe. Her name is Shamshera.

The high-octane, adrenaline-pumping entertainer was introduced to central India in the 1800s. It's a big promise in unprecedented presence for Ranbir Kapoor who plays Shamshera in the film! Sanjay Dutt plays Ranbir's bitter nemesis in this huge casting coup and his fight with Ranbir is something to watch out for as they will be hounding each other unpleasantly.

Directed by Karan Malhotra, this action extravaganza is produced by Aditya Chopra and will release on July 22, 2022 in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu.
