Satyaprem Ki Katha posted a "healthy score" on its opening day yesterday, reports trade analyst Taran Adarsh. The film, which received mixed reviews, gathered momentum during the day after an "ordinary start" and earned ₹ 9.25 crore at the box office by the end of Thursday. Word of mouth praise for the film saw better occupancy in the evening.

Satyaprem Ki Katha is now Kartik Aaryan's third biggest opening after Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 and Love Aaj Kal. Taran Adarsh predicts a drop in Friday's numbers, it being a working day - the weekend will be key to the film's fortunes.

"Satyaprem Ki Katha puts up a healthy score on Day 1 (holiday). Gathered speed during the course of the day, after an ordinary start in the morning shows. Evening shows, expectedly, saw very good occupancies due to glowing WOM. Thursday ₹ 9.25 crore. India biz," tweeted Taran Adarsh.

"Emerges Kartik Aaryan's third biggest opening day after Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 and Love Aaj Kal. Going forward, the numbers may decline on Day 2 (Friday), since it's a working day, but Day 3 and 4 (Sat-Sun) hold the key. If its target audience - families - patronize the content, a strong weekend number cannot be ruled out," he continued.

Satyaprem Ki Katha is directed by Sameer Vidwans and co-stars Supriya Pathak, Gajraj Rao, Anuradha Patel and Rajpal Yadav. The film stars Kartik as a happy-go-lucky slacker who ends up marrying Kiara's character, a troubled young woman with a dark past.
